Why more and more students choose to study in Turkey?

Turkey is a large country located between the Mediterranean, the Aegean and the Black Seas. It straddles the continents of Europe and Asia, and benefit from strong cultural influences from both sides. Turkey is becoming a more and more popular destination among international students and a prime choice for study abroad programs.

It is vital to bear in mind that in Turkey, student visas are treated slightly differently to those issued for tourism or trade. Should you require a Turkish visa , you will be required to submit a written application to a Turkish Embassy or Turkish Consulate. Do ensure that you have left yourself plenty of time for the documentation to be processed as you will not be able to enter the country without a visa.

Great Climate and Beautiful Surroundings

One excellent reason to study in Turkey is to take advantage of its excellent climate, picturesque beaches and breath-taking architecture. If you plan to study abroad, you'd better want to be in a place you will enjoy as it will be a large part of your experience, positive or negative. Turkey’s landscapes and weather are the main reasons people travel there on holiday and should set you up quite nicely for a study abroad program.

Experience a New Culture

If the weather and surroundings doesn’t do it for you, then the chance to experience another culture first hand should. The geographical location of Turkey, coupled with the country history, make the people of Turkey unique. Turkey is a mostly Muslim country, due to historic links with the Middle East and the Arab world, whilst also retaining a large Christian population in the European West of the country. The mix of the two worlds creates a wonderfully engaging and interesting culture that is extremely welcoming and friendly to outsiders. Turkey is being seen more and more as a leading cultural and political force in the region and globally, which means it is a perfect time to get involved.

Long Standing Tradition of Academic Excellence

Turkey has several higher education institutions that have been in place for over 500 years, meaning that they have always placed a lot of emphasis on knowledge throughout their history. Turkey has some of the most distinguished universities in the world and during the last few decades this position has only strengthened as rapid development and expansion of Turkish universities has taken place.

Since a change of international law at the start of the 1980s to allow private non-profit universities, there are now more than 50 of these in Turkey that run alongside over 100 public universities, all under the control of central policy agencies. Many of the top public and private universities located within Turkey are recognized internationally in rankings tables, proving that Turkey’s commitment to providing high quality higher education is working.
